The Simpsons brings Apu back after nearly nine years of silence with a new voice actor
Apu has found his voice again, and The Simpsons has chosen a surprisingly direct way to address his absence. In the Halloween episode The Revengening, broadcast on Fox on October 18, 2026, the Kwik-E-Mart owner speaks for the first time since 2017. His new performer, Sunil Malhotra, succeeds Hank Azaria following years of controversy surrounding the character's representation. But this is more than a casting change. The writers have built a story in which Apu confronts Springfield for forgetting him, turning almost nine years of creative uncertainty into the central subject of an episode.
