There is something distinctly appropriate about Doctor Doom building a machine intended to defeat a cosmic invasion, only for that device to threaten the universe itself. The ruler of Latveria has never been particularly comfortable accepting limits, especially when his own genius is involved.

The Siege of Castle Doom builds its new story around this familiar contradiction. Doom's Cosmic Inductor was conceived as a weapon against Annihilus, but its dangerous potential forces Marvel's heroes to storm Castle Doomstadt before the machine reaches full power.

Tribute Games revealed the structure of the expansion's new mode on October 26. The second premium DLC for Marvel Cosmic Invasion is scheduled to arrive November 10, adding Doctor Doom and Invisible Woman to the playable roster.

Two brilliant minds, two competing inventions

Reed Richards and Victor von Doom have challenged each other intellectually and morally across generations of Fantastic Four stories. Their relationship brings together scientific ambition, pride and conflicting ideas about responsibility.

The expansion translates that rivalry into its central mechanics. Doom's Siege Gauge represents the growing threat of his Cosmic Inductor, while the Stabilizer created by Reed Richards allows the heroes to counter its progress.

Doom taunts the intruders throughout their journey. Richards provides guidance, linking the players' immediate actions to the larger conflict between the two characters.

It is a clever narrative foundation for a run-based mode. The threat facing the world and the rules governing a player's progress are expressions of the same conflict.

A fortress designed around Doom's personality

Castle Doomstadt is more than a traditional villain headquarters. Its medieval traps, dangerous machinery and imposing architecture reflect a character who combines technological sophistication with an almost theatrical sense of domination.

Players will encounter torture devices in the Halls of Doom, blizzards across the battlements and hazardous elevator platforms inside the Tower of Solitude.

The castle also introduces branching routes. Different doors lead to equipment, healing, temporary rule changes, unlimited ammunition or Focus, and resources that strengthen Reed's Stabilizer.

The structure gives players decisions about how they approach Doom rather than asking them to follow one uninterrupted sequence of battles.

Tribute Games says the mode contains more than five times as many encounters as the original campaign, excluding newly designed traps and special events. That figure refers to the announced collection of encounters, not the length of an individual playthrough.

The Fantastic Four's most complicated team-up

Susan Storm, the Invisible Woman, is one of the new playable characters. Her abilities revolve around manipulating light and generating force fields, adding a different set of options to the game's action.

Doctor Doom joins the roster as well, equipped with advanced technology and occult powers. His simultaneous role as the expansion's principal threat and a playable fighter creates an unusual contrast, though one entirely compatible with the game's flexible superhero combinations.

Marvel Cosmic Invasion has always treated its cast as a celebration of Marvel's comic book history rather than a tightly restricted adaptation of one storyline. Characters from separate teams and generations fight alongside each other through its Cosmic Swap system.

The Siege of Castle Doom extends that formula with permanent upgrades through Reed's Lab, selectable combat perks and rewards for completed runs.

Classic Marvel meets replayable arcade combat

Tribute Games' approach continues to draw on the vivid artwork and energetic confrontations associated with classic Marvel comics and arcade brawlers.

Castle Doom introduces a new structure without abandoning those foundations. The emphasis shifts toward route selection, build development and repeated attempts, giving the publisher another way to expand the game beyond its original campaign.

Dotemu reports that more than 1.5 million players have experienced Marvel Cosmic Invasion. That is a publisher-reported milestone and should not be interpreted as a count of current active players.

The Siege of Castle Doom launches November 10, 2026, for PC via Steam, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
